New Year Card - Quilled 3d Flowers

So its New Year For some of my friends so I made this stand up card for one of them. I like the way it turned out though it is a simple design. This time I managed to get the print on the card so it was easier. I am not the best at cutting designs!!

I made the bell flowers so that the bottom section flared out a bit. I was not very happy with some of the quilled bells out there that look more like cones so I did a bit of experimenting to get a more rounded cone and I managed. ( check out Quick Tip 3).

Check out Quick Tip 4 for how I did the flared red petals on the bell.

The 3 petal flower looks really cooool thanks to Pritesh. There is a super video at her site on how to make them. Check my tutorial page for links to her site.

Well I got the print on the wrong side so I made it into a stand up card by folding the back into a triangular shape and pasting.

Congratulations Card - Quilled 3d Flower Card

This is my first attempt at making a card. I wanted to print directly on the board and paste the quilling on it but my printer refused to accept the card ,so I was forced to print it on regular printer paper , then cut it and paste it.

I must say I'm rather proud of the results!! not a drop of gum is visible and that is a big, big acheivement for me. I also managed to get a two tone rose by pasting 1mm strips on both sides. I'm thrilled at the result as it looks rather like a cake!! Yummy!!.  Hope you all like it too.

I like the poem that I printed inside too:

Add one part each of:
Hope,
Faithfulness,
Generosity
Kindness;

 Blend with:
One part Prayer,
One part Meditation
Good Deeds.

 Season the whole with:
a dash of Good Spirit,
a sprinkle of Fun,
a pinch of Play
a cupful of Good Humour.

Pour all of this into a Vessel Of Love,
Cook thoroughly over Radiant Joy
Garnish with Smiles
Serve with Quietness, Unselfishness and Cheerfulness

And you are bound to have a Happy Life

Quilled Portrait Landscape Art- Pouting Penny

Well I  quilled this portrait to see if I could get the features right and I think I managed it OK. I saw a couple of beautiful quilled pictures and wanted to try out something similar. I used my usual fillers but for the hair, I wanted a straight look so I folded the strip like a fan and then encircled it. I used a combination of yellow, black and brown mixed in order to get the flowing appearance.

I think my quilling style is different from the other quilled pictures out there, as I use different basic quills for the different elements.

Well, guess I have stumbles upon my own landscape quilling technique!!

I think its a outcome  for my first attempt at quilling a human face.

Quilling Quick Tips

This website is all about discovering my quilling skills  and sharing with others, so I thought I would post quilling tips that I discover on a regular basis. Please check out my tutorial page for

"Quick Tips"

In my journey I have discovered that the tips quiller give, make a huge difference in the quality of your work, so pick up what you find useful .

I used to have an endless running  battle with the glue untill I discovered that rolling the toothpick saved the day!!

Red Passion Spray -Quilled 3d Flowers

I wanted to quill the leaves differntly so I struggled with it a bit. I wanted it to be two tone and I wanted it to have streaks but in the end I had to settle for this. The leaves came out larger than I wanted but I think they look ok.
I used 3to 4 strips and husking technique to make the light leaf. Once I got it pasted, I stuck the darker green strips around it.
For the flower middle I did some 3d work and made a berry on top ofwhich I stuck a 1mm thick peg. Then I stuck 3 petals on the peg.
For the petals I used the beehive method and for the blue middle I just chucked a tear shaped coil andencircledit with the honeycomb.
