Planning time again!

So I love to plan a good party.... and it keeps me distracted from the fact that my kid is turning two. I had originally planned to do a "Very Hungry Caterpillar" theme for his second birthday since it's his favorite book.... but I changed it to "Fire TRUCKS!" If you have to ask why then you obviously haven't met T.

I don't want to go overboard with trucks and firemen so I was thinking I'd keep it simple. The only fireman we're going to have is Toby with this:

Then as far as decor goes, do red balloons and one fire truck balloon. I'm thinking maybe a fire hydrant centerpiece... not sure if anything else. The cake will be a fire truck so that could be part of the table too. The food for the adults will most likely be five alarm chili and bread/crackers, jalapeño poppers, pepper jam spread and barbecued chicken... for the kiddies hotdogs and nuggets. For the sweet tooth we'll have Red Hots and cinnamon Mike and Ikes... and cake. Drinks... fruit punch and cranberry ginger ale.... and the usual stuff.

For favors I think we're either going to do the chocolate pops again OR give everyone one fireman rubber duck. Since we're mostly having adults over I don't think we're going to do any party activities other than maybe pin the tail on the dalmatian.

Any other ideas???

So my hard drive is fried on my laptop. Thankfully I backed up all 5,000+photos I had except for the ones taken the past two weeks (which happen to be my favorites but never mind that!). I lost a years worth of assignments/tests I had written up for my students (I may have a few on a thumb drive but not all), a TON of links from curriculum writing this summer that I was saving to use with my students next year and all the photoshop projects I had started. I just wanted to go in a corner and cry this morning.

In any case, I've learned to back up things like documents AND to make sure I plug the laptop into a surge protector, especially during a thunder storm.

With all this loss, I do have something good that came out of it. I got myself a Macbook Pro... pretty nice. Every photographer I know has one and apparently, it's a "must" for artsy fartsy folks like me. So, yay for new toy.... boo for price tag!

Makeup and hair...

I actually had time to play around today and see if I could do my own makeup that would look natural yet show up in photos... and also did a quick mockup of the hair... what do you think?

EXCITEMENT :)

So remember a while back I talked about creating a website and whatnot for my photo business? Well, I purchased the domain and the bones for the page are almost done... can you say YAY!?

In any case... do you also remember that I wanted to make round business cards for my photo business? Since I have my domain I went ahead and made a mock up of what I want it to look like for the Etsy seller that will be designing it. What do you think? Any and all input is much appreciated.

HELP!

I'm in need of your creative ideas and internet searching skills :) My baby is moving out of his crib into a twin bed.... so I need to get him a twin sheet set. I want the room to remain "beachy" and I don't want to get any character sheet sets.... so no Nemo or things like that. This is the only bedding I've found that I like:

I already know that S will say to just get this 'cause it has dots. Anyway :) If you find anything else out there that you think will fit into this room.... let me know!
